Book Description:

Sabinne ‘Saber’ Darrieux’s father, the billionaire CEO of Frontenac Global Security has been kidnapped. His ransom is not cash in a numbered offshore account, or a briefcase of Bearer Bonds but something utterly unique, incredibly valuable, and until recently, hidden away from the world.

The kidnapper seems to know Saber very well and knows that the next day, through her work as an elite translator she will be in the same location as the Object. She must steal the Object and deliver it to the kidnapper to ransom her father.

Adrian Steele, a British Intelligence agent has just come off of two harrowing missions. Upon returning to London for a well-earned rest, he learns that his friend and fellow agent has been murdered in Moscow, but not before he made use of a unique Object as a mobile ‘drop site’ for the valuable intelligence he was carrying.

The drop site is traveling from Moscow to England. Steele insists on completing the mission to honor the death of his friend, Gerry Cornell.

At an ultra-chic quasi-diplomatic gathering in a mansion in Windsor, England, Saber and Steele meet and find themselves faced with a powerful, undeniable attraction. But at the moment, this compelling attraction is very inconvenient.

In reality, they are at the mansion to check out the security arrangements — for their own reasons — to steal the Object, a Fabergé egg worth thirty million dollars. But who will get to the egg first?

Fabergé eggs are very famous for their unique surprises. Saber and Steele are about to be very surprised, indeed.

And when Saber clashes with Steele; more than sparks will explode!

How did you do research for your book?
I use situations and experiences from my own life. I also have an interest in a lot of eclectic things, so that counts as well. I do travel a lot, and make it a habit to study languages of the places I visit. I also try to keep up with various issues and policies in international politics (which figures in the next book) and of course, the latest in technology. I use the internet of course, but I also read certain publications and reports that are public, just not widely available. I also talk to people who are knowledgeable in the various fields I write about. Many of these decline to be mentioned in the acknowledgements.

Your book is set in Los Angeles, England and Las Vegas. Have you ever been there?
I was born in Los Angeles, and grew up there, traveled extensively in England, and made many "road trips" to Las Vegas. Of course as to which is most quirky, between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, that's something I'm not sure about. They are each their own place. But Vegas is by far the most outrageous. People seem to lose their inhibitions there, and there's an "almost anything can happen" feeling there. I've been through Heathrow, and JFK. I like to write about places I've actually been to. This is a way of sharing the experience with the reader as well as adding more credibility to what can be an almost incredible (to believe) plot! There is also a reference in the book to the Noto Peninsula in Japan. I've been there, too.

Do you ever get writer's block? What helps you to overcome it?
Yes, I can get terrible writer's block. It can be caused by many things, so that makes a difference in how I overcome it (or don't.)  Sometimes it has to do with the trajectory of the book; what direction do I take?, is this the right decision?, that kind of thing. Sometimes, it's just Real Life Things that take over, and make it difficult to get back into the "zone."  Sometimes I just need to stop obsessing over it. Time helps with that. Travel usually helps me quite a lot, getting me out of my everyday surroundings.

Where do you write?
Almost everywhere, if the mood takes me. I'm not very disciplined, but when I go, I go!  I was just on a trans-Pacific flight, and while everyone was sleeping, I was jamming away on my tablet, trying to get some writing done. I couldn't sleep, but I needed to write! I actually got quite a lot done (it was a long flight.) At home I have my desk, in front of a big window with a tremendous view of the valley below. There are also animals that wander around, too (agoutis, coatimundis, squirrels, armadillos, lots of pretty birds). That can be distracting, but I enjoy  watching them. It's one of the reasons why I live where I do.

Do you snack while writing?
No, not really, coffee is about as far as I go. Most of the time when I get going, into the "zone" I forget to eat.

What is one of the strangest things you ever did?
I was with a friend who was promoting a band called the Trailer Park Casanovas. We were at a gig at a dive bar in Hollyweird. I was wearing a really badass kind of leather bike jacket (note* I'm not really that badass, it just helped me feel safe, it was a skeezy area.) While the band was on stage, a bar fight broke out. No one was doing anything about it, just watching. I'd had enough. Forces quite beyond me propelled me up to break up the fight. Once I was up, little me (I am barely 5' tall), others came up and helped me to separate the two fighters and boot them out. I sat back down and the guys in the band all gave me thumbs up from the stage. A lot of people bought me lots of drinks after the set. I don't remember much after that.

“Babe, do you know where my anti-frizz serum is?”

“Piper, why would I know where that is? I don’t use hair products.”

“Ben.” She sighs. It’s a sweet sigh with a smile as she approaches me. Once her hands wrap around my waist, I mimic her move, tug her to me, and lower my lips to hers. After a few dozen kisses that leave her panting, I pull away and allow her to continue speaking. Instead, Piper stands before me, her eyes closed and her lips lifted to a smirk.

“You had something to say, babe?”

“Huh? Oh, yeah. How do you do that?”

“What’s that?” I ask as I walk to the refrigerator and pull out a bottle of water, opening it and quickly finishing half of it off in one gulp.

“Kiss me stupid. I know I had a question, but you do that and I forget my own name.”

“Piper Sullivan.”

“Gosh, I love when you say that.” Piper walks up to me and steals the bottle of water from my hands, taking her own sip before handing it back to me.

“Only seven days. Anyway, you were asking about hair products. I don’t know where any of that is, but if it’s a serum, my sister probably has it. Witchy powers and all that,” I tease.

Piper smacks my arm, which causes me to fake a flinch and turn my back toward her as though I’m protecting myself. “Be nice; that’s my best friend you’re making fun of.”

“Oh, come on. If I can’t make fun of my own sister, what’s the point of having her? Besides, you know she’s been a little on edge lately. More so than usual. Are you sure we should’ve asked her to sing at the wedding?”

A Moment at ChristmasA Moment at Christmas (A Whistle Stop Romance #5)

By Jennifer Faye

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Age category: Adult

Release Date: October 19, 2017

Needed: A nanny in time for Christmas!

Christian Danser keeps his home at the Broken Arrow Ranch just as his late wife left it: cozy and orderly.  With an early winter settling in and the ranch shorthanded, he needs a nanny ASAP.

When Noelle Forrester finds herself unexpectedly unemployed, she and her young son are facing eviction. An ad for a live-in nanny appears to be the answer to her prayers. Until she comes face-to-face with Christian—the sexy yet irritating cowboy who cost Noelle her previous job!

Christian resists hiring the beautiful but failed waitress. She’s too young, too busy, and far too tempting. Nonetheless, when his daughter takes a shine to Noelle, he reconsiders. But when Noelle’s holiday cheer conflicts with Christian’s avoidance of the holiday, sparks fly. Somehow, Noelle has to open Christian’s heart to the spirit of Christmas…or she and her son will be homeless by the New Year.

How in the world was she going to undo the impression of their first meet? Noelle’s chest grew tight. She recalled her earlier mantra: It will all work out.

A satisfactory resolution was within her grasp, but it’d take more than wishful thinking to make it a reality. The first thing she had to do was figure out how to get past his defensive posture.

She had the truth on her side. Could it really be that simple? It had always done her well in the past. Why not apply it here?

“I was really upset last night. I’d just been fired.” Surely he could scrape up a little understanding, but as she stared into Christian’s brown eyes, she couldn’t read his thoughts. “I might have said some things in the heat of the moment that I wouldn’t normally say.”

A pensive moment passed.

“It won’t work.” His tone was firm. “I’m sorry you drove all the way out here, but you should just go.”

“You can’t go,” Molly cried from the kitchen doorway, where she stood with a bowl and spoon in hand. “We need you. Daddy burnt the grilled cheese again, and I hate burnt food. Yuck!”

This was Noelle’s one and only chance to show Christian that she really could be helpful. Without weighing the pros and cons of her actions, she approached the little girl. “I can make you a grilled cheese.”

The girl’s eyes lit up. “Without burning it?”

Noelle nodded.

Molly rushed forward. “And without the crust?”

“You bet. Just show me to the kitchen.” Noelle didn’t dare look in Christian’s direction, not wanting to see his disapproval. Her stomach was already a quivering mass of nerves.

The girl took her by the hand and led her to the kitchen. Noelle heard Christian’s solid footsteps behind them. What was he thinking? Was he considering tossing her out? Probably. But she was pretty certain he didn’t want to upset his daughter further. In just a matter of minutes, Noelle concluded that if she could win over the daughter, she’d have a real shot at winning over the father.
